Boosting Indonesia’s Role in G20 Presidency 2022
Jakarta, 15-16 June 2022

The Group of Twenty (G20) is a multilateral economic forum consisting of 19 countries from the world’s major economies, and the European Union. At the Pittsburgh Summit 2009, G20 Leaders officially designated the G20 as “the premier forum for international economic cooperation”. The G20 accounts for more than 85% of the world’s gross domestic product, 80% of global investment, 75% of global trade flows, and two-thirds of the world’s population. For the first time, in 2022, Indonesia has the privilege to be the Presidency of G20. Indonesia’s G20 Presidency is in a crucial period as global economic recovery remains uneven, exacerbated by unequal distribution of vaccine, disruption on global supply chain, and sheered attainment of Sustainable Development Goals. On top of those, geopolitical tension seems to cloud the recovery efforts. Guided by the spirit of “Recover Together, Recover Stronger”, Indonesia aspires to lead the international community in navigating through the current challenges. Indonesia’s G20 Presidency is of the view that recovery can be sustained and supported with a global cooperation and policy coordination in three important areas, namely: global health architecture, economic transformation based on digitalization, and energy transitions.

As one of the university partners for the Indonesian government in the G20, Universitas Indonesia (UI) has a major responsibility to speed up Indonesia’s engagement in discussing the aforementioned strategic issues. UI will play a strategic role in hosting discussions and dialogues on crucial issues and contributing intellectually to the main priorities of Indonesia’s G20 Presidency. Consequently, this conference serves as a forum for idea exchange among scientists, researchers, and stakeholders on the three main issues. The outcome of the discussions will be compiled as policy briefs aiming at ensuring that the goals set by Indonesia G20 Presidency provide a meaningful contribution to the people of Indonesia and the global community.

Our Director, Prof. Dra. Fatma Lestari, M.Si., Ph.D. will attend as one of the presenter titled "Harmonisasi dan Penguatan Standar Kesehatan Global dan Protokol Rekognisi COVID-19".
